An initiative to help D-Day veterans return to Normandy has struck gold for a Colchester firm.

The travel arm of the Royal British Legion, Remembrance Travel, and Colchester-based public relations company, Big Wave PR, are celebrating wining gold and silver at the CIPR Pride Awards.

Their campaign to promote free Libor-funded tours to Normandy for war veterans won the prize.

The campaign won gold for best consumer campaign, a category Big Wave PR has now won two years in a row.

It also got a silver for Best Not-for-Profit Campaign at the awards ceremony held in Cambridge.

Hilary Collins, founder and managing director of Big Wave PR, said: “We’re thrilled to have won two awards this year and to have won best consumer campaign two years in a row is the icing on the cake.”

Remembrance Travel’s Liborfunded tours are still available for D- Day veterans, their family, friends and carers.
