FOUR members of staff at law firm Birkett Long are celebrating after being promoted to associate. Two of the team are solicitors, Simon Green and Jenny Bruce, a
third is a legal executive, Emma Harper, and the fourth is training manager, Lorraine Younger.

Lorraine has been with the firm since 2003, when she started as a secretary. She said: “The firm sees potential in many of its employees and encourages them to go on to become better-qualified by studying for qualifications.”

Emma Harper, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Legal Executives, also started with the firm as a secretary. She said: “It is great that all your hard work is recognised and that the partners, who make these appointments, have confidence in you.”

Jenny Bruce, who specialises in inheritance disputes, said: “Becoming an associate is not just about working hard, it’s also about competence and commitment to the firm. I joined Birkett Long in 2006 as a trainee solicitor. It is satisfying to take the next step with the firm I trained with.”

Simon Green, who has been with the firm for almost two years, said one of the reasons he chose Birkett Long was for career progression. Birkett Long has offices in Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon.
